When does the standard four-week schedule apply?
The four-week schedule applies to medium Glasgow kitchens (12–20 units), reconfigurations that keep the room in the same footprint but change the layout and any project using templated stone worktops.
This is the most common Glasgow programme — roughly 60% of our installs sit inside this schedule. It balances premium finish against manageable disruption.
What happens week by week?
Week one is strip-out and first fix, week two is cabinet installation and worktop templating, week three is off-site worktop cutting and any plaster drying, week four is worktop install, second fix, snag and handover.
The lead fitter runs a daily 15-minute update on site during weeks one, two and four. Week three is quieter on site because the household waits for the worktop return.
How is the templating gap managed?
The templating gap is managed by providing a temporary timber worktop with working sink and hob wherever the layout allows, so the household can still cook basic meals through week three.
Where a temporary worktop cannot be safely installed (over a hob run, or where the sink is being relocated), the household relies on a microwave and kettle station in another room for the seven-to-ten day gap.
How do structural works fit into four weeks?
Structural works — a steel beam and wall removal — are completed in week one under a pre-approved Building Warrant, with Glasgow City Council Building Standards inspection booked in advance for the end of that week.
The Building Warrant is applied for during the design stage so approval is in place before day one on site. Without a pre-approved warrant, the schedule cannot fit into four weeks.
What ends the four-week install?
The four-week install ends on the last working day of week four with a joint snag walk, appliance demo, handover pack and settlement of the pre-agreed retention against snag close.
Snag close typically completes within 10 working days of handover. Retentions on final payment (10–15%) are released once each snag on the list is signed off.
