Kitchen Fitting and Final Sign-Off in Glasgow

Kitchen fitting and final sign-off in Glasgow is the last on-site stage, running 5–10 working days for a like-for-like refit and ending with a joint snag walk, certificates and a signed handover pack.

TL;DR

  • Base and wall units are levelled and scribed to accommodate out-of-square Glasgow walls.
  • Worktop templating adds a 7–10 day gap for stone and quartz, less for laminate.
  • Second fix covers handles, plinths, cornice, splashbacks, lighting and appliances.
  • Snag walk is signed by both parties; final payment released as snags close.
  • Handover pack includes electrical, gas and appliance certificates plus care guides.

How are cabinets fitted on uneven Glasgow walls?

Cabinets are fitted on uneven Glasgow walls by using adjustable leg systems on base units and scribing filler panels to close gaps against wall irregularities.

Older Glasgow tenement walls are rarely square. The fitter uses laser levels rather than a spirit level for accuracy and packs behind wall units where plaster is bowed. Scribed fillers make the finish look built-in rather than dropped-in.

How does worktop templating work?

Worktop templating works by digitising the fitted cabinet run with a laser template rig, then cutting stone or quartz off-site to a 1 mm tolerance and returning to install seven to ten working days later.

A temporary timber worktop and working hob and sink can be provided during the templating gap so the household can still cook basic meals. Laminate worktops are cut on site and skip the gap entirely.

What is included in second fix?

Second fix in a Glasgow kitchen install includes handles, plinths, cornice, splashbacks, extractor, hob, oven, integrated appliances, lighting, sockets and tap connection.

Second fix ends with a live-services test — every socket tested, every appliance run through a cycle, every tap and waste checked for leaks. Only when this passes does the room count as ready for snagging.

How does the snag walk work?

The snag walk is a joint inspection where the homeowner and the lead fitter list every visible defect on a signed sheet, with each item given a target close date.

Typical snags are minor: a scuffed door, a plinth clip that needs re-seating, a light switch finish. Retentions on the final invoice are released as snags close, usually within 7–14 days of handover.

What certificates are in the handover pack?

The handover pack contains an electrical Minor Works or EICR certificate from a SELECT or NICEIC electrician, a Gas Safe notice for any gas work, appliance warranties and cabinet and worktop care guides.

Keep the handover pack — it is required for a future home sale (the Home Report references recent electrical certification) and to activate the manufacturer's cabinet and worktop warranties.

Frequently asked questions

The fitting stage takes 5–10 working days for a like-for-like Glasgow refit and 10–20 days for reconfigurations and open-plan projects, including the templating gap for stone worktops.

Appliances are installed after second fix and tested in front of the homeowner during the appliance demo on handover day, with warranties transferred and manuals bundled in the handover pack.

A snag walk is a room-by-room joint inspection between the homeowner and the lead fitter, recording every small defect on a signed list that must be closed before the final invoice is paid.

At handover you should receive Minor Works or EICR electrical certificates from a SELECT/NICEIC electrician, a Gas Safe notice for any gas work, and cabinet, worktop and appliance warranty documents.
